You can expect to be nurtured, comforted and listened to by your therapist who only has your best interest in mind. Expect a warm, safe environment where you can let your hair down and not be judged.
The initial treatment begins with a full consultation, including extensive medical history. Massage is safe, relaxing and natural and is therefore generally considered a safe treatment for most people. However there may be cases where the treatment is limited due to medical reasons or other contraindications.
Please note, under no circumstance is this intended as a medical diagnostic tool. The consultation ensures each person is treated individually and in context of their own life style. It also enables the therapist to find out what your expectations from the treatment are. |

During your treatment
It is customary to leave underwear on for your treatment, women may remove bras. When you get on the table, use your breath to let go and relax. A good breathing exercise is to breathe in for three counts and exhale for four, continuing to do so while you relax all the muscles in the body and feel your thoughts float away.
Additionally, it is important to release your breath when your therapist is working on sore spots. Holding the breath holds on to the pain; releasing the breath releases pain, tension and blockages.
Treatment Choices and Styles
Massage involves different types of touch, pressure or flowing movements applied to the skin and underlying tissues to release muscular tension and pain, relax the body and enhance wellbeing.
Your therapist will choose the perfect combination of different massage techniques and approaches to create a treatment that is as individual as you are.
The first treatment usually takes 75 minutes. Following the massage we will discuss after care advice and any further needs or questions you may have.
Please note that all information and treatment details are strictly confidential.

How Often?
You are free to receive treatments according to your own personal preferences and needs.
You may like to have sessions on a weekly, fortnightly or monthly basis. Or you may prefer to come simply when you feel you would benefit from positive touch.
Everything we do in daily life affects our bodies. Regular treatments can improve health and re-establish the body’s equilibrium. In most cases once a month or six weeks would be sufficient in maintaining a healthy equilibrium.

Alternatively you may want a soothing, gentle massage involving long tension relieving strokes throughout the length of the body to help create calmness and tranquillity.

Swedish massage
The original massage technique, Swedish massage is a perfect choice for relieving every day stress and tension, providing an overall state of relaxation.
Swedish massage not only feels exceptionally good, but is relaxing and invigorating. It affects the nerves, muscles, circulation, and promotes general health and wellbeing. As a treatment it helps reduce stress, both emotional and physical, and is often suggested in a program for stress management.

Deep Tissue Massage
This technique focuses on the deeper layers of muscle tissue. It aims to release the chronic patterns of tension in the body through slow strokes and deep finger pressure. It is great for alleviating the painful spasms and knots in the upper back and neck.
Deep tissue massage usually focuses on more specific areas and may cause some soreness during or right after the massage. However, you should feel better than ever within a day or two.

Trigger Point Therapy
Trigger points are tiny contraction knots that develop in a muscle when it is injured or overworked. An amazing number of our common aches and pains—and a variety of other puzzling physical symptoms—have been found to be caused by trigger points.
The defining symptom of a trigger point is referred pain; that is, trigger points usually send their pain to some other site. This is the reason pain is widely misunderstood, misinterpreted, and misdiagnosed. It’s a mistake to assume that the problem is at the place that hurts!
Deactivation of a trigger point requires the client to communicate the presence and intensity of pain to the therapist. The therapist will apply direct pressure, release for 10 seconds and reapply pressure until the pain is minimised. As this is an intense form of treatment it is incorporated into deep tissue treatment.

Cancer Massage:
The use of Complementary Therapies for clients suffering from Cancer is becoming more and more the norm than the exception.
One of the most relaxing and enjoyable experiences for a person with cancer (or for any other human being, for that matter) is to receive gentle, compassionate, accepting touch from another person. Touch is fundamental. Massage now plays a major role in pain relief for cancer patients, and is used by many hospitals, hospices and self-help groups.
